More information
The Marchese di Villamarina Alghero from Sella & Mosca in Sardinia has a bright, purple-red color in the glass. If you tilt the glass slightly, you can see a transition in the color towards garnet red at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. When swirling the glass, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. This single-varietal Italian wine presents wonderfully expressive notes of blueberries, mulberries, black cherries and morello cherries in the glass. There are also hints of cinnamon, cigar box and gingerbread spice.
The Sella & Mosca Marchese di Villamarina Alghero is wonderfully dry for wine drinkers. This red wine is never coarse or austere, but round and smooth. Thanks to its lively fruit acidity, Marchese di Villamarina Alghero is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. On the finish, this wine from the wine-growing region of Sardinia, which has good ageing potential, finally delights with good length. There are again hints of plum and blueberry. Mineral notes from the sand and clay-dominated soil are added to the finish.
Vinification of the Marchese di Villamarina Alghero from Sella & Mosca
This balanced red wine from Italy is made from the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety. In Sardinia, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay and sandy soils. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off.
