More information
The Marciliano Rosso Umbria from Tenuta Marciliano in Umbria shows a dense, purple-red color when swirled in the glass. Held at a slight angle, a transition of the wine's color towards garnet red is visible at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. If you give it a little air in the wine glass by swirling it, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in church windows at the edge of the glass. When poured into a red wine glass, this red wine from the Old World presents wonderfully expressive aromas of blackberry and blackcurrant, rounded off with cloves from the barrel ageing process.
This wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally low residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and so, despite its dryness, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. This silky red wine is full-bodied and multi-faceted on the palate. With its vital fruit acidity, Marciliano Rosso Umbria is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this mature red wine from the Umbria wine-growing region, or more precisely from Umbria IGT, is ultimately delightful with a remarkable aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets from the limestone-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Marciliano Rosso Umbria from Tenuta Marciliano
The powerful Marciliano Rosso Umbria from Italy is a cuvée vinified from the Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Umbria. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into limestone soils. The Marciliano Rosso Umbria is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Once fermentation is complete, the powerful Marciliano Rosso Umbria is matured in oak barriques for a further 18 months.
