Marimar Estate Vineyards & Winery
Marimar Torres, the highly talented sister of Miguel Torres, has been producing high quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines in California since the mid-1980s. There it has two vineyards. Don Miguel, named after her father, covers about 33 hectares and is located in the comparatively cool Russian River Valley. The Doña Margarita, named after her mother, is located in the Sonoma Coast Appellation.
The cool, pacific climate allows the grapes to develop their full, intense aromas in peace and quiet. The high planting density of almost 5,000 vines per hectare (about four times more than usual in California) reduces yields and thus promotes a markedly increased concentration of aromas and has an effect on the refinement, elegance and balance of the wines. The vines are planted on phylloxera resistant vines and are organically cultivated. Since 2006, Marimar has even started using biodynamic cultivation methods to cultivate ecologically sound vineyards and produce higher quality grapes.
