More information about Merlot - Anthonij Rupert Wyne

In the glass, the Merlot of Anthonij Rupert Wyne reveals a dense purple color. At the edges, there is also a color transition to garnet red. If one gives it some air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which shows in strong church windows at the edge of the glass. This single varietal South African wine flatters in the glass wonderfully expressive notes of black currants, black cherries, blueberries and plums. These are joined by hints of firewood, smoked meat and beech smoke.

The Anthonij Rupert Wyne Merlot presents itself to the connoisseur wonderfully dry. This red wine is never coarse or meager, but round and smooth. In the finish, this mature red wine from the wine-growing region of the Western Cape finally inspires with beautiful length. Once again, hints of morello cherry and blueberry show through.

Vinification of the Anthonij Rupert Wyne Merlot

The powerful Merlot from South Africa is a single-varietal wine, pressed from the Merlot grape variety. The ripening of the grapes for this Merlot wine is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In the Western Cape, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. The grapes for this red wine from South Africa are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After the hand harvest, the grapes quickly reach the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the Merlot is aged for another 18 months in French oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Merlot from Anthonij Rupert Wyne

Drink this red wine from South Africa ideally tempered at 15 - 18 ° C as an accompanying wine to veal boiled beef with beans and tomatoes, stuffed peppers or vegetable couscous with beef meatballs.
