More information
In the glass, the Molin Lugana from Cà Maiol offers a bright light yellow color. When swirling the glass, you can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it is neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. The nose of this white wine from Lombardy delights with hints of lime, pomelo, grapefruit and jasmine. If we trace the aromas further, forest floor, garrigue and sun-warmed stone are added.
The Cà Maiol Molin Lugana impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with 5 grams of residual sugar. As you would expect from a premium and single-vineyard wine, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance despite its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily require a lot of sugar. This melting, light and silky white wine is balanced and complex on the palate. Thanks to its balanced fruit acidity, Molin Lugana has a velvety mouthfeel without lacking freshness. On the finish, this youthful white wine from the Lombardy wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of lemon and orange. Mineral notes from the clay-dominated soil are added to the finish.
Vinification of Molin Lugana from Cà Maiol
The balanced Molin Lugana from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Trebbiano grape variety. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay soils in Lombardy. Molin Lugana is clearly characterized by more than just the Lugana DOC soil. This Italian wine can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, presenting itself as exceptionally fragrant. The fact that the Trebbiano grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has an undeniable influence on the development of the grapes. Among other things, this results in particularly long and uniform grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. The grapes for Molin Lugana are harvested exclusively by hand at the time of optimum ripeness, without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off.
