However, it is never austere or brittle, as you would naturally expect from a wine in the upper price range. The balanced fruit acidity gives the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo a soft mouthfeel without lacking any juicy liveliness. On the finish, this youthful wine from the Abruzzo wine-growing region impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of morello cherry and blackberry.
Vinification of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Contesa di Rocco Pasetti
The well-balanced Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Italy is a single-varietal wine made from the Montepulciano grape variety. The grapes for this red wine from Italy are harvested exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled. Ageing in wooden barrels is followed by extensive maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.
