More information
The Poggio Valente from Fattoria Le Pupille shines a dense, dark red in the glass. The nose reveals aromas of red fruit, especially cherry, followed by balsamic notes. Powerful and round on the palate with beautiful fruit and firm, silky tannins. The finish is tasty and pleasantly fresh.
Vinification of Poggio Valente by Fattoria Le Pupille
In 1996, Elisabetta Geppetti acquired the single vineyard Poggio Valente near the medieval village of Pereta in the south of Tuscany. The vineyard lies at an altitude of 280 meters above sea level, in a hilly position, the upper soil structure consists of sand and rests on sandstone rocks. Selected Sangiovese clones and a small proportion of Alicante grow here. The grapes are harvested slightly overripe, after which they macerate on the skins for around 25 days. Fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine is matured in small French oak barrels and a small proportion of American white oak for 15 months.
