More information about Moutere Pinot Noir - Neudorf

The powerful Moutere Pinot Noir from Neudorf pours into the glass with a dense light red color. The first nose of the Moutere Pinot Noir presents notes of currant, blueberry, plum and sour cherry. The fruity aspects of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as black currant, chocolate and coffee/mocha.

On the palate, Neudorf's Moutere Pinot Noir starts wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. On the palate, the texture of this punchy red wine is wonderfully silky and dense. Due to its lively fruit acidity, the Moutere Pinot Noir reveals itself exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this red wine with good aging potential from the wine-growing region of New Zealand South Island, more precisely from Nelson, finally impresses with exceptional reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the soils dominated by gravel and clay.

Vinification of the Neudorf Moutere Pinot Noir

This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Pinot Noir. Only impeccable grapes were used for this wonderfully powerful single varietal wine from Neudorf. The grapes grow under optimal conditions on New Zealand's South Island. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay and gravel. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Moutere Pinot Noir are harvested exclusively by hand without the use of punishing and less selective machinery. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately sent to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn into bottles.

Food recommendation for the Moutere Pinot Noir from Neudorf

This red wine from New Zealand is best enjoyed at a temperate 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to goose breast with gingered red cabbage and marjoram, braised chicken in red wine or vegetable couscous with beef meatballs.
