Vinification of Castello della Sala Muffato della Sala Umbria
This elegant dessert wine from Italy is made from Gewürztraminer, Greco Bianco, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Umbria. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sand, limestone and marl. The Muffato della Sala Umbria is an Old World wine through and through, as this Italian wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underlines the success of wines from the Old World. The grapes for the Muffato della Sala Umbria are harvested exclusively by hand at optimum ripeness, without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off.
