In the finish, this well storable white wine from the wine-growing region of the Mosel finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of apple and quince. Vinification of the Winery Peter Lauer No.12 Unterstenberg Riesling Große Lage
This white wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, Riesling. For this exceptionally elegant varietal wine from Weingut Peter Lauer, only the best grapes were harvested. The grapes grow under optimal conditions on the Mosel. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of slate. In addition, the grapes of this top wine from Weingut Peter Lauer do not grow in the flat land, but dig their roots into the subsoil in steep slopes. Steep slope cultivation ensures that even in cooler winegrowing regions with less long growing seasons, the vines catch a maximum of sun. The No.12 Unterstenberg Riesling Große Lage is an Old World wine through and through, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The fact that the Riesling grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate also has an influence on the development of the vintage that cannot be dismissed. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. When the perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the No.12 Unterstenberg Riesling Große Lage are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in 500 l oak barrels.
