Ochagavia-Wineyard

Viña Ochagavía is one of the oldest Chilean wine brands. Silvestre Ochagavía, the founder of the winery first studied French viticulture before he imported the noble grape varieties from Bordeaux to Chile shortly before the phylloxera plague in the middle of the 19th century and thus revolutionized viticulture in his country. In 1851, Don Silvestre, as he was known, founded Viña Ochagavía and has since been considered the father of Chilean viticulture.

Today, the winery belongs to the Carolina Wine Brands group, which owns seven wineries in South America and is committed to the highest standards of quality and sustainability. The cellar master is Andrés Caballero. Together with his oenologist Iván Martinovic, he is constantly striving to emphasize the type of each grape variety and the terroir. Maintaining high quality in the face of increasing demand and acreage is a challenge that the Viña Ochagavía winery gladly accepts.

Ochagavía's vineyards are located in the most important wine regions of Chile.

  • Casablanca Valley
  • Maipo Valley
  • Rapel Valley
  • Curico
  • Maule

Ochagavia-Barrels

The vineyards are located at altitudes of maximum 800m above sea level. The average temperature is about 15 degrees, which extends the ripening period and allows harvesting late in the year. The favorable climatic conditions guarantee complete ripeness of the grapes and give the wines specific fruit notes and a full body. This is impressively evident in the Gran Reservas Viña Ochagavía, which are vinified only from hand-picked grapes and develop their complex character with long and gradual aging in barrique. The result is exceptional substance and elegant power, as consistently attested to the Cabernet Sauvignon of the Gran Reserva range.

The winery's grape variety list reflects the diversity found in Chile:

  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Carmenère
  • Merlot
  • Sauvignon Blanc
  • Chardonnay
