More information
With the Gerard Bertrand Orange Gold comes a first-class organic orange wine in the wine glass. In this it presents a wonderfully bright, light yellow color. After the first swirl, you can perceive a first-class balance in this orange wine, because it stands out on the walls of the glass neither watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like. In the glass, this orange wine from Gerard Bertrand reveals aromas of lemongrass, lime, orange, grapefruit and pink grapefruit, complemented by bitter chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon. This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in this price range, this Frenchman naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need a lot of residual sugar. In the finish, this wine from the Languedoc wine-growing region finally delights with beautiful length. There are again hints of star fruit and kumquat.
Vinification of the Orange Gold by Gerard Bertrand
The basis for the balanced Orange Gold from the Languedoc are grapes from the grape varieties Muscat, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Mauzac and Viognier. Orange Gold is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Frenchman exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The ripeness of the grapes for this wine, made from Muscat, Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, Mauzac and Viognier, is influenced to an extent that cannot be denied by the climate of the growing region. In Languedoc, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. After manual harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn into bottles.
