The history of the Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné begins in 1834, when Paul and Henry's father founded the winery in Tain l'Hermitage, which experienced an unexpected boom among his sons.
Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aine - the history
With the combination of a passion for viticulture and a special terroir, the following generations are also very successful. Today the management of the Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné is in the hands of Frédéric Jaboulet and Frédéric Mairesse. In 2006, the Frey family, a family of winegrowers from Champagne, joined the family.
Top qualities of Paul Jaboulet wines
The usual top quality of the domains of the Northern Rhône leaves no doubt about the success of this cooperation! The terroirs remain outstanding and the yield has been reduced. The grapes from almost 100 hectares of vineyards are vinified with the utmost care, prudence and rigour together with Caroline Frey, a qualified oenologist. The wines mature in the Vineum, the thousand-year-old cellar with its Gallo-Roman tunnels. The flagship of the house is the legendary Hermitage La Chapelle, whose 1961 vintage was chosen as one of the twelve greatest wines of the 20th century.
The grape varieties
Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné cultivates the following grape varieties, among others:
