More information
The Pergentsknopp Wiltingen Scharzhofberger Riesling GG from Van Volxem on the Mosel reveals a brilliant, light yellow color when swirled in the glass. When the wine glass is swirled, this white wine is characterized by a fascinating lightness that makes it dance jauntily in the glass. Poured into a white wine glass, this Old World white wine reveals delightfully expressive aromas of jasmine, vineyard peach, lime and gooseberry, rounded out by yeast plait, green bell bell pepper and sun-warmed rock.
On the palate, the Pergentsknopp Wiltingen Scharzhofberger Riesling GG from Van Volxem starts off pleasantly aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. On the tongue, this light-bodied white wine is characterized by an immensely dense texture. In the finish, this wine from the Mosel wine-growing region, which can be stored well, finally delights with considerable length. There are again hints of mirabelle and jasmine. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the slate-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the Pergentsknopp Wiltingen Scharzhofberger Riesling GG by Van Volxem
The basis for the elegant Pergentsknopp Wiltingen Scharzhofberger Riesling GG from the Moselle is grapes from the Riesling grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions on the Mosel. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of slate. What is unusual about the origin of this white wine from Van Volxem is the fact that the grapes grow on stone terraces in Wiltingen (DE). This traditional form of vineyard design is unfortunately very costly and therefore rarely found anymore. The Pergentsknopp Wiltingen Scharzhofberger Riesling GG is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Pergentsknopp Wiltingen Scharzhofberger Riesling GG are harvested exclusively by hand without the aid of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed.
