More information about Pessac-Leognan AOC - Château Lespault-Martillac

In the glass, Château Lespault-Martillac's Pessac-Leognan presents a bright purple color. Holding the glass at a slight angle, a transition of the hue towards garnet red can be seen at the edges of this barrel-aged wine. After the first swirl, one can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out on the glass walls watery or syrupy or liqueur-like. In the glass, this red wine from Château Lespault-Martillac shows aromas of morello cherries, black cherries, plums and damsons, complemented by other fruity nuances. The Pessac-Leognan from Château Lespault-Martillac is perfect for all wine drinkers who like it dry. However, it is never sparse or brittle, but round and smooth. On the tongue, this balanced red wine is characterized by a tremendously fleshy texture. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Pessac-Leognan flatters the palate with a velvety feel, without lacking juicy liveliness. In the finish, this very storable from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux finally inspires with beautiful length. Once again, hints of plum and morello cherry show through. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by gravel and clay are added.

Vinification of the Pessac-Leognan from Château Lespault-Martillac

The balanced Pessac-Leognan from France is a cuvée, made from the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. In Bordeaux, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and gravel. Obviously, the Pessac-Leognan is also determined by climate and viticultural style Pessac-Léognan. This French can be called an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, and it is exceptionally impressive. The grapes for this red wine from France, after ensuring optimal ripeness, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the Pessac-Leognan is aged for another 14 months in French oak barrels.
