More information about Grand Cru Classé Rouge Pessac-Léognan AOP - Domaine de Chevalier

The Pessac-Léognan Rouge of Domaine de Chevalier from Bordeaux offers a dense ruby color in the swirled glass. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this Old World red wine presents wonderfully expressive aromas of black currant, violet and blackberry, rounded out by cloves contributed by barrel aging.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine icon wine segment, this Frenchman naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all dryness. Taste does not necessarily need residual sugar. This silky red wine presents itself on the palate full of pressure and facets. The final of this red wine from the wine-growing region of Bordeaux, more precisely from Pessac-Léognan, finally captivates with extraordinary reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral facets of the soils dominated by clay and gravel.

Vinification of the Domaine de Chevalier Pessac-Léognan Rouge

This powerful red wine from France is vinified from the grape varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Bordeaux. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay and gravel. Pessac-Léognan Rouge is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Frenchman exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. When perfect physiological ripeness is assured, the grapes for Pessac-Léognan Rouge are harvested exclusively by hand without the aid of punishing and barely selective grape harvesters. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the completion of fermentation, the powerful Pessac-Léognan Rouge is aged for another 16 months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for the Pessac-Léognan Rouge from Domaine de Chevalier

This red wine from France is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to veal boiled beef with beans and tomatoes, cabbage roulades or goose breast with gingered red cabbage and marjoram.
