More information about Rosso di Montalcino DOC - Pian delle Vigne

The Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino is a first-class red wine. It has a wonderfully dense, ruby red color. Swirling the glass, this red wine reveals a high level of density and richness, which can be seen in the strong stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Tuscany captivates with aromas of blackberry, plum, black cherry and blackcurrant. If we trace the aromas further, cinnamon, vanilla and gingerbread spice are added.

This Italian wine impresses with its elegantly dry taste. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would naturally expect from a wine in the top wine segment, this Italian naturally delights with the finest balance despite its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need residual sugar. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense, silky and melting texture. The finish of this youthful red wine from the Tuscany wine-growing region, more precisely from Rosso di Montalcino DOC, ultimately impresses with its remarkable persistence. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes from the soils dominated by limestone and marl.

Vinification of the Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino

This powerful red wine from Italy is made from the Sangiovese grape variety. The vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone, clay and marl soils in Tuscany. Without question, Rosso di Montalcino is also determined by the climate and viticultural style of Rosso di Montalcino DOC. This Italian wine can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word and is extraordinarily impressive. The ripening of the grapes for this Sangiovese wine is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Tuscany, the grapes thrive in a warm climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly well-ripened grapes and a rather high must weight. The grapes for this red wine from Italy are picked exclusively by hand when they are perfectly ripe. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of this process, the Rosso di Montalcino is aged for 12 months in oak barrels.

Dining recommendations for the Rosso di Montalcino from Pian delle Vigne

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to spicy curry with lamb, lemon chilli chicken with bulgur or ossobuco.
