More information about Pirinenca Tempranillo DO - Raimat
Raimat's Pirinenca Tempranillo combines the brilliant terroir of Catalonia's DO Costers del Segre with Spain's top red grape variety, Tempranillo. Gorgeous ruby red and with a purple-cherry rim, this wine enters the glass. The nose immediately delights with lots of fully ripe cherry, dark berry fruit and all sorts of subtle nuances of mint, lemon balm, menthol, cocoa and subtle spice notes. A delicate ethereal note of orange peel rounds out the bouquet.
On the palate, the Raimat Pirinenca Tempranillo delights with excellent structure, soft tannins and considerable length. A very nice Tempranillo with finesse and depth.
Vinification of the Pirinenca Tempranillo from Raimat
The grapes for this single varietal Tempranillo are all sourced from sustainable agriculture. The wine is aged in barriques for 12 months after fermentation.
Where does the name Pirinenca come from? The Raimat vines are nourished by the purest water from the thaw of the Pyrenees. In 1910, the Catalonia-Aragon irrigation canal was built and 100 km of ditches were constructed to transport the water to the Raimat land.
