The Poggio Argentato Toscana Bianco IGT from Fattoria Le Pupille is a full-bodied and mineral white wine from the Maremma. In the glass, it is brilliant yellow with greenish reflections. A rich bouquet unfolds on the nose with notes of white flowers, freshly mown grass and mineral aromas in the background. On the palate, this fine white wine from southern Tuscany is very fresh and very persistent, well structured, full-bodied and with an elegant, aromatic texture. Long, very persistent finish.
Vinification of the Poggio Argentato Toscana Bianco from Fattoria Le Pupille
This white terroir wine from the Maremma has a French influence. The cuvée is made from Sauvignon Blanc 60%, Petit Manseng 25%, Traminer 10% and Semillon 5%. The grapes grow in two vineyards, Piani di Fiora, near Pereta, and San Vittorio, near Scansano, at an altitude of 200 to 250 meters above sea level, facing north-east, open to the winds from the Mediterranean, while the morning sun dries the night humidity with its rays. The well-structured clay and loam soils contain sandstone and iron.
After the grape harvest in late August to early September, the grapes are gently pressed, then left on the skins for a few hours at low temperatures, followed by another pressing. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Only a third of the must also undergoes malolactic fermentation. The Petit Manseng ferments for 25 days in 500-liter tonneaux and is then aged for 3 months. The large wood emphasizes the aromas and supports the tannin content typical of this grape variety, giving the cuvée more structure and fuller aromas. The main part of the cuvée is matured for 5 months in stainless steel tanks.
A total of 50,000 bottles are bottled, the 2016 vintage has been completely drunk.
