With the Bouchard Père & Fils Pommard comes a first-class red wine in the glass. In this it presents a wonderfully brilliant, bright red color. If you swirl the wine glass, this red wine is characterized by an immense lightness, which makes it dance nimbly in the glass. The bouquet of this red wine from Burgundy convinces with notes of mulberry, plum, plum and blackberry. If we trace the aromatics further, black tea, oriental spices and cocoa bean are added, encouraged by the oak influence.
On the palate, Bouchard Père & Fils' Pommard opens delightfully dry, grippy and aromatic. On the finish, this youthful from the Burgundy wine region finally delights with considerable length. Once again, hints of morello cherry and black currant show through. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by limestone and marl are added.
Vinification of the Pommard from Bouchard Père & Fils
The elegant Pommard from France is a single-varietal wine, pressed from the Pinot Noir grape variety. In Burgundy, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone and marl. Pommard is an Old World wine through and through, as this Frenchman breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. When perfect physiological ripeness is assured, the grapes for Pommard are harvested exclusively by hand without the aid of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the grape harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in new French wood.
