More information
The barrel-aged Portrait Shiraz Barossa Valley from the wine-growing region of South Australia presents itself in the glass in dense purple. The nose of this Peter Lehmann red wine shows all sorts of mulberries, blueberries, black currants and blackberries. As if that wasn't already impressive, black tea, oriental spices and vanilla join in due to the aging in small wooden barrels.
On the palate, Peter Lehmann's Portrait Shiraz Barossa Valley starts wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. Some wines are dry on the label, others really are. This red wine belongs to the latter, as it was bottled with only 0.4 grams of residual sugar. Full-bodied and multifaceted, this velvety red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its concise fruit acidity, the Portrait Shiraz Barossa Valley presents itself exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this youthful wine from the wine-growing region of South Australia finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of black currant and mulberry.
Vinification of the Peter Lehmann Portrait Shiraz Barossa Valley
This red wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Shiraz. Only impeccable grape material was brought in for this exceptionally powerful single-varietal wine from Peter Lehmann. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Portrait Shiraz Barossa Valley is aged for another 12 months in French and American oak barrels.
