More information

The Quintessenz Kalterersee Classico Superiore Alto Adige from Kellerei Kaltern in Trentino-Alto Adige shows a bright ruby red color in the wine glass. On the nose, this Kaltern Winery red wine presents all kinds of blueberries, mulberries, blackberries, plums and blackcurrants. As if that wasn't already impressive, the ageing in large wooden barrels adds further aromas such as walnut, oriental spices and cocoa bean.

This dry red wine from Kellerei Kaltern is just the thing for wine lovers who like it absolutely dry. The Quintessenz Kalterersee Classico Superiore Alto Adige comes very close to this, as it was vinified with just 2 grams of residual sugar. This dense and fleshy red wine is balanced and multi-layered on the palate. Thanks to its present fruit acidity, the Quintessenz Kalterersee Classico Superiore Alto Adige is wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine-growing region is impressive with a beautiful finish.

Vinification of the Kaltern Winery Quintessenz Kalterersee Classico Superiore Alto Adige

This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, namely Vernatsch. Only flawless grapes were harvested for this exceptionally well-balanced single-varietal wine from Kellerei Kaltern. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in concrete and large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. At the end of fermentation, the Quintessenz Kalterersee Classico Superiore Alto Adige is matured for a few months in large oak barrels.

Recommendations for the Kaltern Winery Quintessenz Kalterersee Classico Superiore Alto Adige

This Italian red wine is best enjoyed moderately chilled at 11 - 13°C. It goes perfectly with fruity endive salad, vegetable salad with beetroot or spaghetti with yoghurt-mint pesto.
