Rasteau AOC 2017 - Domaine Fond Croze
In the glass, the Rasteau from the pen of Domaine Fond Croze shows a dense purple-red colour. The nose of this red wine from the Northern Rhône Valley captivates with aromas of lilac, perfumed rose, lavender and violet. If we continue to explore the aromas, vanilla, cocoa bean and gingerbread spice are added.
The Domaine Fond Croze Rasteau inspires with its elegant dry taste. It was bottled with only 2 grams of residual sugar. As one can naturally expect from a wine, this Frenchman naturally enchants with the finest balance in all dryness. Aroma does not necessarily need sugar. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully dense. With its vital fruit acidity, the Rasteau is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this well-ageing red wine from the Northern Rhône Valley wine-growing region, or more precisely from Rasteau, finally inspires with a remarkable aftertaste. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the soils dominated by limestone and sandstone.
Vinification of the Rasteau from Domaine Fond Croze
The basis for the powerful Rasteau from the Northern Rhône Valley are grapes from the grape varieties Garnacha, Mourvèdre and Syrah. In the Northern Rhône Valley, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of limestone, sandstone, marl and brown earth. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully ground. Fermentation then takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by a maturation of 14 months in oak barriques.
