  • Montepulciano Wine - As long as it's Italy

A picturesque little town in Tuscany, the papal wine Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the folk festival Bravio delle Botti - let's forget it. This is the Montepulciano grape variety, one of the most important varieties in central Italy, from which the juicy and velvety Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is vinified. Easy to confuse - the wine from Abruzzo has a completely independent existence. Colorful, spicy and full-bodied - a ruby red Montepulciano wine brings Italian joie de vivre to your wine collection for a reasonable price. Enjoy a dry red wine from Italy with VINELLO - your wine trade for Montepulciano in glass and holiday in mind.

    A delicate powerhouse from Italy

On the terrace, for good friends or with a rich menu - a Montepulciano red wine sweeps around the palate with fine and spicy nuances, that taste straightforward and uncomplicated. The dry red wine, made from the dark blue Montepulciano grape, enjoyed by lovers of strong and intense Italian wine, is completely down-to-earth and yet sublime. The full-bodied character makes Montepulciano the ideal cuvée partner with Negroamaro, Merlot and Primitivo. Bring some colour into the dark - with an aromatic Montepulciano from Abruzzo and Tuscany.

Typical Italy - the character of Montepulciano

The full and smooth character of Montepulciano wine lies in the ruby red body with violet hints. Already in the nose, the primary aromas of dark cherry and forest fruits are combined with aromas of plum, vanilla, tobacco and cedar wood. The red wine is very tannic and harmonizes with a low acidity and a lot of alcohol to a juicy taste experience.

    Tasty misunderstanding of the origin

Although the name probably comes from the town of Montepulciano in Tuscany, the grape variety Montepulciano has nothing to do with the municipality. The grape variety is not cultivated in this area. Instead Montepulciano is very widespread in Abruzzo, Umbria, Tuscany and all of central Italy. Here the grapes are vinified to the famous Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which contains at least 85% Montepulciano. The grape needs a lot of sun and sandy to calcareous soils for the uniquely strong and velvety bouquet. These are conditions that the cultivated areas of central Italy fulfil without any problems.

    Our VINELLO recommendation

AMARANTA Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC - Tenuta Ulisse

A tribute to the most important wines of Abruzzo. 30 to 35-year-old vines, matured in barriques for up to 12 months, deep ruby red - the Amaranta di Ulisse Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from the Tenuta Ulisse winery shows what this grape variety stands for. A satiny treat, suitable for juicy pasta and strong sauces. But also as a solo entertainer the Amaranta brings an incomparable price-performance ratio and irrefutable class into your glass. Practically also in the wine package for many cosy hours.

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano have nothing in common except the name. One of the grapes is Montepulciano, the other of Sangiovese.

Bisanzio Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC 2016 - Citra Vini

A Montepulciano rosé wine - a fitting delight not only in summer. A fruity bouquet of flowery aromas and typical berry fruits surround the nose, supported by delicate nuances of roses and petunias. Harmony in Italian, single-variety vinified and matured in stainless steel tanks. Enjoy life simply and easily with a Bisanzio Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo from the Codice Citra estate.
