The Renato Primitivo from Cantina Sampietrana from the Italian wine-growing region IGT Salento in Apulia is a full-bodied, pure and elegant red wine. This wine is dedicated to the head of the family, Renato (who still works in the vineyards).
In the glass, this wine has a powerful ruby red color with purple highlights. The nose delights with a bouquet typical of the variety. Aromas of dark forest berries - particularly blackberry and blackcurrant - are wonderfully complemented by spicy notes of cinnamon, cloves and black pepper. The spicy, fruity aromas are also reflected on the palate and are encased in a full body. With a velvety-soft texture, this Italian red wine glides into the pleasantly long finish.
Vinification of the Sampietrana Renato
The vines in the 50-year-old vineyards grow on chalky and clayey soils. The Primitivo grapes are carefully harvested by hand.
Once the grapes have arrived in the Sampietrana wine cellar, the berries are prepared for fermentation in steel tanks. The fermentation process in the stainless steel tanks takes place at a controlled temperature. Finally, this red wine matures for 6 months in barriques.
Dining recommendation for the Primitivo Sampietrana Renato
This dry red wine from Italy is an excellent accompaniment to hearty dishes, such as roast beef in a dark sauce, game stew with spaetzle or strong, mature cheeses.
