More information

The light-footed Ried Poharnig Sauvignon Blanc Erste STK Ried from the pen of Erwin Sabathi shines into the glass with brilliant light yellow. After the first swirl, this white wine is characterized by a fascinating lightness that makes it dance peppy in the glass. The bouquet of this white wine from Styria seduces with nuances of mango, gallia melon, jasmine and orange blossom. If we trace the aromatics further, garrigue, green peppers and sun-warmed rock come into play.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with only 1.4 grams of residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in the top wine range, this Austrian naturally enchants with the finest balance despite all its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need residual sugar. On the tongue, this light-footed white wine is characterized by an incredibly crisp texture. Due to its vital fruit acidity, the Ried Poharnig Sauvignon Blanc Erste STK Ried presents itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. In the finish, this youthful from the wine-growing region of Styria finally inspires with considerable length. Again, hints of star fruit and guava show up. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sandstone and sand join in.

Vinification of the Ried Poharnig Sauvignon Blanc Erste STK Ried by Erwin Sabathi

This elegant white wine from Austria is organically produced from the Sauvignon Blanc grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Styria. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of sand and sandstone. Of course, the Ried Poharnig Sauvignon Blanc Erste STK Ried is also determined by climatic and stylistic factors of southern Styria. This Austrian can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, and it is extraordinarily impressive. After the harvest, the grapes reach the press house by the fastest route. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Ried Poharnig Sauvignon Blanc Erste STK Ried is aged for another 11 months in large oak barrels.
