More information

With the Erwin Sabathi Ried Saffran Chardonnay STK Ried comes a first-class white wine in the swirled glass. In this it shows a wonderfully bright, golden yellow color. After the first swirl, one can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. To the nose, this Erwin Sabathi white wine presents all manner of lemongrass, papaya, lime, grapefruit and orange. As if that weren't already impressive, the aging in small wooden barrels adds further aromas such as forest floor and sun-warmed rock.

The Erwin Sabathi Ried Saffran Chardonnay STK Ried presents itself to the connoisseur wonderfully dry. This white wine never shows itself coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine icon wine segment. Balanced and complex, this dense white wine presents itself on the palate. Due to the balanced fruit acidity, the Ried Saffran Chardonnay STK Ried flatters the palate with a soft feeling, without at the same time lacking in juicy liveliness. In the finish, this very storable from the wine-growing region of Styria finally inspires with good length. Again, hints of lime and grapefruit show up. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by limestone and sand join in.

Vinification of the Erwin Sabathi Ried Saffran Chardonnay STK Ried

The balanced Ried Saffran Chardonnay STK Ried from Austria is a single varietal wine made from the Chardonnay grape variety. In Styria, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand, limestone, slate and clay. Ried Saffran Chardonnay STK Ried is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Austrian exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The grapes for this white wine from Austria are harvested, at the time of optimal ripeness, exclusively by hand . After harvesting, the grapes reach the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. Fermentation follows in small wood at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Food recommendation for the Ried Saffran Chardonnay STK Ried by Erwin Sabathi

This Austrian is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompanying wine to vegetable stew with pesto, spaghetti with caper-tomato sauce or cod with cucumber-mustard vegetables.
