In the glass, the Riesling Passion Reserve from Weingut Pfaffl shows a dense pale yellow color. After the first swirl, this white wine reveals a high viscosity, which is evident in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. This single varietal Austrian wine flatters the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of pink grapefruit, kumquats, honeysuckle and lime. These are joined by hints of sun-warmed rock and forest floor.
This Austrian wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with 6.8 grams of residual sugar. As you would naturally expect from a wine icon wine segment, this Austrian naturally enraptures with the finest balance for all its dryness. Excellent taste does not necessarily need a lot of sugar. With its vital fruit acidity, the Riesling Passion Reserve reveals itself wonderfully fresh and lively on the palate. The finish of this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Lower Austria finally convinces with a beautiful reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the soils dominated by sand and clay.
Vinification of the Pfaffl Winery Riesling Passion Reserve
This powerful white wine from Austria is made from the Riesling grape variety. In Lower Austria, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and sand. Riesling Passion Reserve is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Austrian exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The grapes for this white wine from Austria, after ensuring optimal ripeness, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the harvest, the grapes quickly reach the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. This is followed by fermentation in large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for 7 months in oak barrels.
