More information
With the F.E. Trimbach Riesling Sélection de Vieilles Vignes, a first-class white wine comes into the swirling glass. In this it reveals a wonderfully dense, light yellow color. When swirling the glass, this white wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is evident in clear church windows at the edge of the glass. In the glass, this white wine from F.E. Trimbach displays aromas of peaches, kumquats, quince, lemons and apples, complemented by forest floor, garrigue and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, F.E. Trimbach's Riesling Sélection de Vieilles Vignes starts pleasantly dry, grippy and aromatic. On the tongue, this punchy white wine is characterized by an immensely dense texture. In the finish, this well storable from the wine-growing region of Alsace finally inspires with considerable length. Again, hints of acacia and pink grapefruit appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by clay and limestone are added.
Vinification of the Riesling Sélection de Vieilles Vignes by F.E. Trimbach
This wine clearly focuses on one grape variety, and that is Riesling. Only first-class grape material was brought in for this wonderfully powerful varietal wine from F.E. Trimbach. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Alsace. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of limestone, clay and marl. Riesling Sélection de Vieilles Vignes is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this Frenchman breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for Riesling Sélection de Vieilles Vignes are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks and large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off. The aging in oak barrels is followed by a considerable bottle aging, which makes this white wine even more complex.
