More information about Ripe al Convento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG - Tenuta di CastelGiocondo

The Ripe al Convento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from Tenuta di CastelGiocondo in Tuscany shows a dense, ruby red color in the swirled glass. With a little swirling, the Bordeaux glass reveals a charming garnet-red hue at the edges. If you give it a little air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which can be seen in clear stained glass windows at the edge of the glass. This single-varietal Italian wine presents wonderfully expressive notes of blackberries, blueberries, plums and prunes in the glass. There are also hints of gingerbread spice, cocoa bean and dark chocolate.

On the palate, the Ripe al Convento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from Tenuta di CastelGiocondo opens wonderfully dry, full-bodied and aromatic. On the finish, this very storable red wine from the Tuscan wine-growing region finally impresses with its considerable length. There are again hints of morello cherry and blueberry. Mineral notes from the limestone and clay-dominated soil are added in the finish.

Vinification of the Ripe al Convento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from Tenuta di CastelGiocondo

The basis for the powerful Ripe al Convento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva from Tuscany are grapes from the Sangiovese grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Tuscany. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of limestone and clay. The grapes for the Ripe al Convento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva are harvested exclusively by hand at optimum ripeness, without the help of coarse and less selective harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn off. Ageing in oak barrels is followed by a long period of maturation in the bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.

Dining recommendations for Tenuta di CastelGiocondo Ripe al Convento Brunello di Montalcino Riserva

This red wine from Italy is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to duck breast with sugar snap peas, braised chicken in red wine or baked sheep's cheese parcels.
