The Riul Refosco dal peduncolo rosso Friuli Colli Orientali DOC from Aziende Agricole Livon shines in dense garnet red with a tendency towards violet tones in the glass, the scents on the nose are intense and pleasant, with aromas of wild blackberries and forest floor. Tasty on the palate, somewhat tart, typical of the variety, full-bodied, carried by pleasing tannins. The finish is appealing, complex and persistent.
Vinification of the Riul Refosco dal peduncolo rosso Friuli Colli Orientali DOC by Livon
This single-varietal cru red wine from Friuli takes its name from the Livon family vineyard of the same name in the municipality of Corno di Rosazzo in the Colli Orientali wine-growing region. The vines of this very old autochthonous grape variety with its characteristic red stems grow on clayey marl soils. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand in small crates. In the wine cellar, the grapes are gently destemmed and then fermented on the skins at a controlled temperature of 24°C for twenty days. Fermentation is followed by thirteen months of ageing in wooden barrels at a constant temperature of 18°C, followed by bottling and a further long ageing period in the bottle. The Cru Riul can be stored for up to 15 years.
