The Rosé Franciacorta DOCG from Contadi Castaldi shines in the glass in a bright coral color with a fine and long-lasting perlage. On the nose, Contadi Castaldi's rosé delights with clear aromas of wild berries, fresh rose petals, hints of apple and tropical fruit. On the palate, this Italian Spumante Rosé is structured, full-bodied, clear and lively, with a beautiful cadence of flavor. The finish is long-lasting and finely balanced.
Vinification of the Franciacorta DOCG rosé from Contadi Castaldi
For this Franciacorta rosé, 65% Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Noir are vinified together. The grapes grow in a microclimatically favorable location, on gravel slopes, not too calcareous, optimally permeable, with favorable air currents and sunlight. The grapes are harvested at the end of August, beginning of September. Before gentle pressing, the grapes are macerated at 17 to 18°C for 3 to 4 hours. After static cold decanting, alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts over a period of 20 days. This is followed by partial malolactic fermentation. The first maturation of the wine takes place over 7 months partly in stainless steel and partly in barriques, after which the wine is transferred to the bottle for bottle fermentation on the fine lees, which lasts between 24 and 30 months. After dégorgement, the sparkling wine is aged in the bottle for a further 3 to 4 months before being released for sale.
An original, modern Franciacorta thanks to the skillful use of Pinot Noir grapes.
