The barrel-aged Rouge Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Rhône wine-growing region offers a dense purple red in the glass. If you swirl the wine glass, this red wine reveals a high density and fullness, which is reflected in strong church windows at the edge of the glass. Ideally poured into a red wine glass, this Old World wine reveals delightfully distinguished aromas of mulberry, black currant, blueberry and blackberry, rounded out by dark chocolate, cinnamon and black tea contributed by barrel aging.
The Rouge Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Domaine du Vieux Lazaret is the right wine for all connoisseurs who like it dry. However, it is never sparse or brittle, but round and smooth. The final of this red from the southern Rhône Valley, more precisely from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which is well capable of aging, finally convinces with considerable reverberation.
Vinification of the Domaine du Vieux Lazaret Rouge Châteauneuf-du-Pape
The basis for the powerful Rouge Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the southern Rhône Valley are grapes from the varieties Counoise, Cinsault, Garnacha, Mourvèdre and Syrah. Rouge Châteauneuf-du-Pape is an Old World wine through and through, as this Frenchman breathes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. After the grape harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully crushed. Then fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Rouge Châteauneuf-du-Pape can further harmonize for 18 months on the fine lees.
