More information

The Rubesco Rosso di Torgiano DOC - Tenuta di Torgiano by Lungarotti has a deep ruby red color with light violet reflections in the glass. Delicate, elegant and at the same time intense and complex on the nose, with aromas of pepper, cinnamon and sweet tobacco, accompanied by notes of red and dark berry fruit jam and violets. On the palate, the Rubesco is medium-bodied, with a solid structure and beautiful concentration, tasty with balanced, tart, well-integrated tannins and a refreshing, appealing acidity. The finish is long and fruity, with a hint of minerality in the aftertaste.

Vinification of Rubesco Rosso di Torgiano DOC Tenuta di Torgiano by Lungarotti

Lungarotti's best-known and most widespread red wine has been produced since 1962 and has held the DOC seal since 1968. The two indigenous central Italian grape varieties Sangiovese and Colorino are vinified together for Rubesco. They grow on medium-heavy, loamy, deep soils with a calcareous subsoil; the grapes are harvested by hand between the end of September and mid-October.
Mash fermentation on the skins takes place in stainless steel tanks for 15 days, then the wine is matured for a year in oak barrels and, after light filtration and bottling, is aged for a further year in the bottle.
This structured red wine from Lungarotti is suitable for drinking soon after the harvest, but also for medium and longer storage.

Dining recommendations for the Rubesco Rosso di Torgiano DOC from Lungarotti

Enjoy this red classic from Umbria with tasty dishes from traditional cuisine as well as fine dining. It goes wonderfully with typical Umbrian strangozzi with red onions and bacon, barbecues with spicy sauce, preparations with beef, eggplant vegetables, lightly matured cheeses, traditional lasagne with minced meat or as an ingredient for preparing sauces.
