More information
The Sand Lagrein Alto Adige DOC from Nals Margreid shines ruby red with clear violet reflections in the glass. Fruity, berry aromas of raspberry, blueberry and warm floral notes of violet appear on the nose. There are also aromas of fresh walnut and herbs. On the palate, the Lagrein from the Alto Adige is warm and dry, full-bodied with present velvety and soft tannins. Smooth, pleasantly long finish.
Vinification of the Sand Lagrein Adige DOC from Nald Margreid
Lagrein is an autochthonous grape variety that has been cultivated in South Tyrol for centuries. The first mention of Lagrein dates back to 1526. For ideal ripening and development of the polyphenols, this vine requires high temperatures during the ripening period. The hills surrounding the course of the River Adige have proven to be particularly suitable for this.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The post-fermentation maceration lasts almost three weeks. Further ageing takes place in large wooden barrels and partly in small oak barrels for a period of 10 months.
Dining recommendation for the Sand Lagrein from South Tyrol
A beautiful, tasty red wine from South Tyrol that goes very well with pasta with meat sauces, Tyrolean bacon, cold cuts, white and red meat, game dishes and medium-ripe cheeses.
We recommend opening the Lagrein one hour before serving.
