More information about Sandstein Zweigelt - Weingut Pfaffl

The elegant Sandstein Zweigelt Weingut Pfaffl shimmers into the glass with bright light red. This single varietal Austrian wine flatters the glass with wonderfully expressive notes of morello cherry, plum, damson and black cherry. These are joined by hints of other fruits.

This dry red wine from Weingut Pfaffl is something for wine lovers who prefer to drink bone dry. The Sandstein Zweigelt already comes quite close to this, it was vinified with just 2.3 grams of residual sugar. Balanced and multifaceted, this dense and crisp red wine presents itself on the palate. Due to the moderate fruit acidity, the Sandstein Zweigelt flatters with a velvety mouthfeel, without lacking freshness at the same time. In the finish, this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region Weinviertel finally inspires with considerable length. There are again hints of plum and damson. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by sandstone and clay join in.

Vinification of the Sandstein Zweigelt from Weingut Pfaffl

This balanced red wine from Austria is made from the Zweigelt grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Weinviertel. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of loess, sandstone, clay and marl. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully milled. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in oak barriques.

Food recommendation for Weingut Pfaffl Sandstein Zweigelt

This Austrian red wine is best enjoyed tempered at 15 - 18°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to boeuf bourguignon, duck breast with sugar snap peas or spinach gratin with almonds.
