More information about Scharlachberg Riesling Großes Gewächs - Weingut Bischel

The Bischel Scharlachberg Riesling Großes Gewächs is a first-class white wine. It presents a wonderfully bright, light yellow color. If you give it some air in the wine glass by swirling, you can perceive a perfect balance in this white wine, because it does not stand out on the glass walls watery or syrupy or liqueur-like. The first nose of the Scharlachberg Riesling Großes Gewächs shows notes of lemons, apricots and grapefruits. The fruity hints of the bouquet are joined by more fruity-balsamic nuances.

Balanced and complex, this dense white wine presents itself on the palate. Due to its lively fruit acidity, the Scharlachberg Riesling Großes Gewächs is impressively fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this youthful white wine from the wine-growing region of Rheinhessen, more precisely from Appenheim, finally impresses with exceptional reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the slate-dominated soils.

Vinification of the Scharlachberg Riesling Großes Gewächs from Bischel Winery

This balanced white wine from Germany is made from the Riesling grape variety. In Rheinhessen, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of slate. What is unusual about the creation of this white wine from Weingut Bischel is the fact that the grapes grow on stone terraces in Appenheim (DE). This time-honored method of vineyard management is unfortunately very costly and therefore rarely found anymore. Scharlachberg Riesling Großes Gewächs is an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, as this German wine exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of Old World wines. The grapes for this white wine from Germany, after ensuring optimal ripeness, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the hand harvest, the grapes immediately enter the press house. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Food recommendation for the Scharlachberg Riesling Großes Gewächs from Bischel Winery

This white wine from Germany is best enjoyed well chilled at 8 - 10°C. It is perfect as an accompaniment to leek tortilla, pasta with sausage meatballs or asparagus salad with quinoa.
