At Schug everything revolves around Pinot Noir. The family can now look back on 100 years of tradition with this grape variety.
American wine in German tradition - Schug Carneros Estate
The estate was founded in 1980 by Walter Schug, who also set the basic direction of the estate with his pioneering work. The German immigrant was careful to maintain the style of his homeland. Thus, Schug Carnero Estate's wines, despite their origins, are very European in character.
The Sonoma Valley - a pearl
In addition to Pinot Noir, many other grape varieties are now cultivated by Schug Carneros Estate, including, of course, the family tradition of Riesling or Chardonnay. The terraces of the Sonoma Valley with their volcanic rock and gravel offer a wonderful terroir for wine growing. The Sonoma Creek drains the valley, the proximity to the Pacific Ocean, whose cold air and fog penetrate into the valley, gives the valley an interesting microclimate, which makes it partly higher than the famous Napa Valley, which is directly adjacent to Sonoma, for wine connoisseurs.
Everything from one source for the wines of Schug Carneros Winery
The Schug wines are highly regarded, for example the Chardonnay was awarded double gold at the San Franciso Wine Competition. In addition to white and red wines, Schug's portfolio includes interesting pieces such as
- the Rouge de Noirs sparkling wine and also
- a Pinot Noir rosé wine.
By the way, the matching dishes to the Schug wines are created by chef Kristine, who is totally committed to fine cuisine and shares her ideas on the winery side.
