A talent from the publishing industry

The winery is one of the best in California and was founded by John Shafer, who still owns the winery today. If you are still lacking proof of the high quality, you can say that Shafer wines are always rewarded with 90 or more of the coveted Parker points. 

With the first shafer wine already collected several prizes

Actually John Shafer was a successful publisher and had a good life and his own family. But after more than 20 years in the publishing business he was tired of it and longed for variety. He moved with his family to Napa Valley and started his own winery. He took over an existing winery with only one hectare of land. This was quickly replanted by Shafer and his family and new terraces were built. In 1978, the time had come and the first wine from the Shafer winery was launched. It was a Cabernet Sauvignon. Even this first wine was very well received by the people and even won several prizes at the first go. John Shafer felt encouraged in his talent and quickly bought more and more land and planted new grape varieties. As a result, the winery now has a fairly wide range of different wines.

Sustainability at Shafer Winery

The high quality of the wines mentioned in the beginning is not by chance. Nothing is left to chance in the cultivation of the wine and the vines are taken care of with great care and attention. However, we never forget the aspect of sustainability and also pay attention to ecological production. Every wine produced at the Shafer Winery is an exclusive product and meets the highest quality standards. The first wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, has managed to remain one of Shafer's most popular wines to this day. This is immediately followed by the Merlot.
