With the Marsala dessert wine, Sicily acquired a high reputation long ago - but times are changing. After the decline in demand and the subsequent strong reduction in wine growing, the favourable location now seemed to spoil only olive oil and wheat. Only a new understanding of local strengths, almost endless investments and an increased awareness of quality gave the winemaker new impetus, so that today Sicilian wine is popular and sought after all over the world.
