The Pinot Noir & Portugieser from Martin Schwarz in Saxony reveals a bright, light red color in the swirled glass. In the glass, this German red also shows a transition into garnet red. If you give it some air by swirling, you can perceive a perfect balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out on the walls of the glass in a watery, syrupy or liqueur-like way. In the glass, this red wine from Martin Schwarz reveals aromas of black currants, plums, mulberries, blueberries and blackberries, complemented by black tea, whole-nut chocolate and dark chocolate. On the palate, the Pinot Noir & Portugieser from Martin Schwarz opens wonderfully aromatic, fruit-driven and balanced. On the tongue, this well-balanced red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. The final of this very ripening red wine from the wine-growing region of Saxony finally impresses with considerable reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral notes of the soils dominated by clay and loess.
Vinification of the Martin Schwarz Pinot Noir & Portugieser
The starting point for the first-class and wonderfully balanced Cuvée Pinot Noir & Portugieser from Martin Schwarz are Blauer Portugieser and Pinot Noir grapes. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Saxony. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of clay, loess and volcanic rock. What is unusual about the production of this red wine by Martin Schwarz is the fact that the grapes grow on stone terraces in Saxony. This traditional way of vineyard management is unfortunately very costly and therefore rarely found. The grapes for this red wine from Germany, after ensuring optimal ripeness, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the grapes are harvested, they are immediately taken to the press house. Here they are selected and carefully ground. Fermentation follows in large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in oak barrels.
