The St. Magdalener Alto Adige from Cantina Terlan in Trentino-Alto Adige shows a bright ruby red color when swirled in a glass. As if that wasn't already impressive, the ageing in large wooden barrels adds further aromas such as brittle, roasted almonds and walnuts.
The Cantina Terlan St. Magdalener Alto Adige is wonderfully dry for wine connoisseurs. This red wine is never coarse or austere, but round and smooth. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully melting, velvety and dense. On the finish, this youthful red wine from the Trentino-Alto Adige wine-growing region finally impresses with its considerable length. Once again, there are hints of morello cherry and lily.
Vinification of the St. Magdalener Alto Adige from Cantina Terlan
The basis for the balanced St. Magdalener Alto Adige from Trentino-Alto Adige are grapes from the Lagrein and Vernatsch grape varieties. Once perfect physiological ripeness has been ensured, the grapes for the St. Magdalener Alto Adige are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective machines. After the harvest, the grapes are transported to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation then takes place in large oak barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the St. Magdalener Alto Adige is matured in oak barrels for another 10 months.
