Steinporz Grüner Veltliner Smaragd 2016 - Gritsch

In the glass, the Steinporz Grüner Veltliner Smaragd from the house of Gritsch shows a bright platinum yellow colour. If you give it some air by swivelling it, you can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, because it does not appear watery, syrupy or liqueur-like on the glass walls. The bouquet of this white wine from Lower Austria convinces with notes of Nashi pear, pear, apple and quince. If we continue to trace the aroma, green peppers, Mediterranean herbs and lovage are added.

This dry white wine from Gritsch is something for wine lovers who would best have 0.0 grams of sugar in their wine. Balanced and complex, this silky white wine presents itself on the palate. In the finish this white wine from the wine growing region of Lower Austria finally inspires with good length. There are again hints of quince and pear. In the aftertaste mineral notes of the sand dominated soils are added.

Vinification of the Steinporz Grüner Veltliner Smaragd by Gritsch

Basis for the balanced Steinporz Grüner Veltliner Smaragd from Lower Austria are grapes from the grape variety Grüner Veltliner. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Lower Austria. Here, the vines dig their roots deep into soils of sand. Obviously the Steinporz Grüner Veltliner Smaragd is also determined by the climate and viticulture style of the Wachau. This Austrian can literally be described as a wine of the Old World, which is extraordinarily impressive. The maturation of the grapes for this wine from Grüner Veltliner is influenced to a considerable extent by the climate of the growing region. In Lower Austria, the grapes thrive in a rather cool climate, which is reflected, among other things, in particularly long and uniform grapes and a rather moderate must weight. The grapes for this white wine from Austria are harvested exclusively by hand at the time of optimum ripeness. After the manual harvest, the grapes quickly reach the press house. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by a maturation on the fine yeast for several months before the wine is finally bottled.
