More information about Steinsatz - Markus Schneider

The barrel-aged Steinsatz from the Palatinate offers a dense purple in the glass. With a bit of side lay, the Bordeaux glass reveals a charming garnet red hue at the rims. This German Bordeaux-style cuvée flatters the nose with wonderfully expressive notes of morello cherry, mulberry, blueberry and black cherry. It is joined by hints of cinnamon, oriental spices and gingerbread spice.

This red from Markus Schneider is just the right choice for all friends of absolutely dry wines. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully velvety and fleshy. In the finish, this well storable red wine from the Palatinate finally inspires with considerable length. Once again, hints of morello cherry and black currant appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes of the soils dominated by marl and sand join in.

Vinification of the Steinsatz by Markus Schneider

The basis for the first-class and wonderfully powerful Cuvée Steinsatz by Markus Schneider are Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes. In the Palatinate, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of sand and marl, as well as gravel and crushed stone. The vines are among the oldest plantings of the winery. When the perfect physiological ripeness is assured, the grapes are harvested exclusively by hand for the stonework without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are taken to the press house as quickly as possible. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging for several months in oak barrels.

Food recommendation for Schneider Steinsatz

Drink this red wine from Germany ideally tempered at 15 - 18 ° C as a companion to veal boiled beef with beans and tomatoes or mildly spicy Moroccan lamb dishes.
