More information
The Stoan Bianco from Cantina Tramin comes into the glass with a bright golden yellow color and immediately reveals an elegant and refined bouquet that combines fruity nuances of peaches, apricots and pears with floral nuances of elderberry, citrus aromas, jasmine and tropical fruits.
On the palate, the Stoan cuvée from Cantina Tramin is extraordinarily deep and complex. Tropical aromas, some banana, but also vegetal hints of tomato leaves and green peppers come to mind. It glides harmoniously and balanced over the tongue and delights with a subtle salty minerality.
Vinification of the Cuvée Stoan from Cantina Tramin
The Stoan is vinified from 65% Chardonnay, 20% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Pinot Blanc and 5% Gewürztraminer. The grapes grow at an altitude of up to 600 meters and have been digging their roots into a shotty, stony subsoil of limestone scree and clay soil for up to 40 years. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are gently pressed. Fermentation then takes place at 18 to 20°C in wooden barrels with a volume of 30-40 hectoliters. This is also where some of the malolactic fermentation takes place. Ageing takes place in large wooden barrels on the lees until the end of August. After the subsequent blending and bottling, the Stoan from Tramin is left to mature for a further 3 months in the bottle, meaning that it is aged for at least 14 months in total.
Recommendation for the Cantina Tramin Stoan
This top white wine cuvée from northern Italy is an ideal accompaniment to fish dishes and seasoned white meat, as well as pork fillet with mushrooms.
Awards for the Stoan Bianco from Cantina Tramin
"The name "Stoan" (stone) was given to the cuvée by Willi Stürz, cellar master at the Cantina, because the grape varieties are grown on stony soils. The blend of Chardonnay (65%), Sauvignon Blanc (20%), Pinot Blanc (10%) and Gewürztraminer (5%) was matured for eight months in large wooden barrels. The nose is dominated by fruity aromas of apricot, lychee and pineapple, while the taste of "Stoan" is balanced, full-bodied and pleasantly creamy. Goes well with antipasti, pasta with gorgonzola and spicy pork." - Feinschmecker 2021
