The barrel-aged Summa Ribera del Duero from the wine-growing region of Castilla y León presents a dense ruby red color in the glass. Held at a slight angle, the Bordeaux glass reveals a charming garnet red hue at the edges. Swiveling the glass, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which is evident in church windows at the rim of the glass. The first nose of Summa Ribera del Duero reveals nuances of plums, blackberries and blackcurrants. The fruity parts of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as even more fruity-balsamic nuances.
On the palate, Bodegas Portia's Summa Ribera del Duero starts pleasantly dry, grippy and aromatic. On the tongue, this punchy red wine is characterized by an incredibly dense texture. The final of this very maturing red wine from the wine-growing region of Castile - Leon, more precisely from Ribera del Duero DO, finally convinces with exceptional reverberation.
Vinification of Bodegas Portia Summa Ribera del Duero
This powerful red wine from Spain is made from the Tempranillo grape variety. Of course, the Summa Ribera del Duero is also determined by more than just the soil Ribera del Duero DO. This Spaniard can literally be described as an Old World wine that is exceptionally impressive. In addition, a considerable influence on the development of the vintage is the fact that the Tempranillo grapes thrive under the influence of a warm climate. This manifests itself, among other things, in particularly well ripened grapes and rather high alcohol content in the wine. After the hand harvest, the grapes are immediately taken to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place in large wood at controlled temperatures. The vinification is followed by a maturation of 14 months in French oak barrels. Once the wine is finished, the Summa Ribera del Duero is carefully harmonized.
