Tapada de Villar Tinto 2019 - Quinta das Arcas
The Tapada de Villar Tinto from Quinta das Arcas is a complex cuvée. This red wine offers aromas of plums, plums and wonderful spices.
The Tapada de Villar Tinto from Quinta das Arcas reveals itself in a dark ruby red colour in the glass. The nose is clean and of medium intensity. Here red fruits, plums and warm vanilla notes dominate, accompanied by oak. On the palate, the dry acidity is well balanced by soft and mature tannins. The fruity character of the Tapada Tinto is also well appreciated here. Velvety plums, sweet cinnamon, dark chocolate and fine nutmeg accompany. The wood and spice notes, which also characterise the long finish of the cuvée, are due to the four months in the barrique.
Vinification of the Tapada de Villar Tinto
The Tapada de Villar Tinto grapes ripen on the Alentejo plains in the sub-regions of Orada and Borba, in a dry-Mediterranean climate and under the difficult conditions of highly fluctuating temperatures between day and night. In order to guarantee the quality of the harvest, the grapes are harvested at night and quickly destemmed. The fermentation takes place in steel tanks, where the mash cake is pumped regularly under the must. This Portuguese red wine then matures for 4 months in French oak barriques.
