Tawny 40 Years Old - Taylor's Port
The Tawny 40 Years Old from Taylor's Port is the result of an extraordinarily intense and varied enjoyment. This Port combines the grape varieties Tinta Amarela, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Barocca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Cao.
Due to the very long barrel aging of 40 years, this port shimmers in a warm mahogany brown with greenish edge shades. The nose is spoiled by a sweet, spicy aroma - freshly ground coffee unfolds with dried fruit and orange peels. On the palate, this port wine gains caramelized notes, accompanied by fine orange jam. With enormous power the palate is wonderfully taken by this wine. The tannins are perfectly interwoven and still clearly perceptible even after the long ripening period. In addition to the wonderful sweetness, this port has an incomparable freshness. The finale has a great length and a spicy finish of coffee and liquorice.
Vinification of Taylor's Port Tawny 40 Years old
Matured Tawny with age indication requires first of all the art of blending and wise foresight on the evolution of the wine during its long maturing period in the barrel. Each Tawny is composed from the beginning for its specific age: 10, 20, 30 or 40 years and must always have its characteristic style and taste. Even if this port is always composed from different wines and vintages.
The grapes for this wine are harvested exclusively by hand and brought to the Taylor's Port cellar, where they are destemmed and fermented in open stainless steel tanks. As soon as half of the sugar is fermented, the fermentation process is stopped by adding high-proof distillate. This preserves the natural residual sweetness of this wine. Finally, this port wine matures for 40 years in wooden barrels until it is bottled.
Food recommendation for the 40 Years Old Taylor's Tawny
Enjoy this port with pleasure simply only pure and let yourself be spoiled by the facet wealth simply only. Or serve this wine with desserts with nut brittle and caramel or with mature cheeses (pecorino, parmesan and manchego).
