Tenuta delle Terre Nere

Between fertile soil and destructive power

On the northern slope of Etna you can find Tenuta delle Terre Nere, near the town of Randazzo. Since 2002 wine has been produced here under the name of Terre Nere. The estate is defined by the extreme climatic conditions and the intensive work necessary to cultivate wine here.

Commemoration of hard times

27 hectares currently contribute to wine production, and expansion to 38 hectares is planned. The vineyards extend from 600 to 1000 metres above sea level and are divided into 24 plots. Even though production under the name Terre Nere has not been around for long, the vines are already 50 to 140 years old. The elders survived the introduction of phylloxera, and the wines made by these vines bear the name of the Lasu family in memory of this: Phylloxera.
