La Braccesca Tenuta

Tenuta La Braccesca - with armour and sword

The Tenuta La Braccesca farm in southern Tuscany extends over 508 hectares, including 340 hectares of vineyards, where the Bracci Counts once resided. They also gave the name and the coat of arms of the estate: an arm in armour with a sword in its hand. Since 1990, the Marchesi Antinori have owned this idyllically situated estate, which is the largest of the family's properties.
The special location between Montepulciano and Cortona makes two hearts beat in La Braccesca: on one side the traditional Nobile di Montepulciano, on the other the innovative, modern side with the Syrah wines from Cortona, an emerging reality in the wine world with great potential.

Tenuta La Braccesca - viticulture and vinification between tradition and innovation

Most of the vineyards, 237 hectares, are located on the border between Montepulciano and Cortona. The other part, 103 hectares, reaches the town of Montepulciano in southern Tuscany and includes three of the most renowned sub-regions for the production of important red wines: Cervognano, Santa Pia and Gracciano. In the area of Montepulciano the traditional Sangiovese is cultivated, in the area of Cortona Syrah, as well as a small proportion of Merlot.
The Syrah in particular finds an ideal habitat in the clayey soil at the foot of the Cortona hill, favoured by a rather dry and arid climate. It is a new territory in the Tuscan wine world, for the Marchesi Antinori fascinating and challenging at the same time.

La Braccesca vineyards

The maturing cellars of La Braccesca are completely underground under the representative manor house and are divided into barrique cellar and barrel cellar. Here you can find barriques, tonneaux and barrels of different sizes made of French, American and Hungarian oak, very carefully selected according to which wine they are to pick up and mature. The use of stainless steel and wood, traditional methods and the most modern technologies are used with a clear vision of the wine: the best characteristics of the past should be able to evolve and find their expression in the present and the future.

Enjoy La Braccesca!

Southern Tuscany, Val di Chiana and Cortona are still an insider tip for travellers. Tenuta La Braccesca offers a visit to the beautifully tended vineyards, the fascinating wine cellar, wine tasting with typical local dishes, and for those who like to help themselves, an entertaining cooking course to prepare one of Cortona's traditional pasta dishes.

The following wines are vinified in the Tenuta La Braccesca:
